ilangang Nayon Park and Restaurant: Dinning by the Sea with My Flying Waiter

When we first visited Silangang Nayon it was still under construction and the road going there was very rough. That was 10 years ago and now everything was a lot better. The 6km road from Maharlika Highway in Pagbilao to Silangang Nayon is now smooth and concreted. There are tricycles for hire as well, so you can now reach it even if you don’t have your own car. This park and restaurant is more than an hour away from Lucena City but I can guarantee you the long drive is worth it.

Silangang Nayon boasts a majestic seaside view, besides the good food, they also have playground for kids, a mini zoo, bed and breakfast rooms and a “restaurant by the sea”. So if you want to stay overnight they have rooms for rent for Php2500, which can accommodate 4 people and comes with free breakfast. And if you want to explore more, you can actually rent a boat from Silangang Nayon and go to Kwebang Lampas and Puting Buhangin Cove. Boat rent cost Php1500 for 10 people.

Anyways, let us go back to Silangang Nayon’s restaurant by the sea. It is a large open air hall which is built on Tayabas Bay. Visitors can dine in this hall and you will surely enjoy the fresh sea breeze and view as you wait for your order. For people who are sea sick, no need to worry because the structure is built with concrete and it doesn’t sway or move. But if you are not brave enough to try (you’ll miss a lot) you can dine in their bamboo cottages on dry land. As I was saying, part of dining in the “restaurant by the sea” is the dumb waiter. Nope, the waiters here are not dumb at all; they actually know the menu by heart. Dumb waiter or the flying waiter is a small helicopter-like carrier, which carries the food you order from the kitchen down to the dining area by the sea through a zip line. A real waiter will then receive the foods and serve them to you.

Speaking of foods, I suggest you try their Crispy Seafood Noodles and Baked Talaba. They also offer live alimango (crabs) and lobster when in season and they will cook them in any way you want.  Silangang Nayon offers a wide variety of fresh seafoods and their Grilled Samaral is something you should not missed. Foods in Silangang Nayon are cook fresh by the order, so if you are not the type of person to wait, I suggest you order as soon as you arrive and explore the place as your orders are cook. You may also call in advance and make reservation specially if you plan to visit on weekends because Silangang  Nayon is usually full during these days.
