Ingredients
  • 10 large Saba Banana (cut in half-lengthwise, can be substituted with plantain)
  • 20 lumpia wrapper (spring roll wrapper)
  • 20 pcs of langka flesh (jackfruit, cut into strips)
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ½ cup water
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Sauce:
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup coconut milk
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
Instructions
  1. Arrange the ingredients accordingly so you can work fast and easier. In one plate put the sliced banana, followed by the condensed milk, then the wrapper, the langka and finally the water-flour mixture (seal the edges of the wrapper).
  2. Dip the banana in to the condensed milk and then lay it on the lumpia wrapper. Topped it with the langka flesh and fold the wrapper, as if you were folding a burrito. Then seal the edges with the water-flour mixture. Repeat the procedure with the rest of the banana. Set aside.
  3. In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat the oil to high. Put the wrapped banana to the oil and fry until golden brown. Do not over crowd the pan so that you turon will not before soggy.
  4. Remove the turon from the oil and let the oil drip by using a sifter or layers of paper towels. Set aside.
  5. To cook the sauce, melt the butter and brown sugar together in a saucepan. Do not stir. Lower the heat and cook until sugar is melted but not burnt. Remove from heat.
  6. Immediately but carefully pour in the coconut milk and evaporated milk and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Cook the sauce on medium while stirring constantly until sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  7. Serve turon with caramel sauce. It is perfect as dessert or snack.
